Hi guys! Here are some tips and tricks for finding a research lab, this was shared directly from my undergraduate PI: Dr. Monica Driscoll (she has a relatively big lab and is usually taking students for those of you interested in working with C. elegans)

The MBB department at Rutgers set up a great resource to help: https://mbb.rutgers.edu/academics/undergraduate/undergraduate-research/finding-a-research-lab

When sending an email to a professor for a potential position:

Subject heading should be: “Make an Appointment with you” (NEVER “looking for a position”)

In the email discuss: your year, what lab courses you’ve taken, 3 parts of their research that interests you, the time period in which you wish to pursue research, if you’re interested in an honors thesis, and your future goals (medical school, etc)

ALWAYS ALWAYS INCLUDE A CV(Curriculum Vitae)

Lastly, follow up with the professor in a few days if you don’t get a response. This can be through email/phone/ or in person, but make sure to always be respectful!

GOOD LUCK GUYS AND FEEL FREE TO REACH OUT IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS!
